In the Basque Country, we have a taste for good things, it's verified and recognized for cooking, but it's also for crafts and creation. In this article, we invite you to take a "deco" point on the various establishments in Bidart, and you will see that many owners choose to work with craftsmen, designers or decorators from the Basque Country. Others choose to up-cycle second-hand pieces or family heirlooms. In any case, they are not lacking in taste! Now, let's open the door of the establishments to find out more!
Custom decoration
- At Sandrine d'Etxea & Co
This maison from the center of Bidart has been redesigned down to the smallest detail by its owner Sandrine, who has decided to transform it into a guest house. Here, nothing is left to chance, from the rooms to the garden, from the terrace to the "P'tit Salon", from the common areas to the key ring, everything is carefully chosen by Sandrine.
- Treasures of History & Family at Itsas Mendia Hotel
Here, the walls are steeped in history... And even if the building seems to have been recently renovated, it is the result of several successive transformations. Domingo Etchayde's house, extended into a boarding house in 1920, finally turned into a very beautiful luxury 4* hotel, now run by Maïder Etchayde. During this last renovation, Maïder, very attached to this family establishment, chose to keep certain treasures, postcards, photos, cement tiles, armchairs as witnesses passed down by her family over time.
- Unique rooms at Les Frères Ibarboure hotel
This establishment which holds the Relais & Silence label has been run by the Ibarboure family for decades. In recent years, the new generation has carried out numerous renovations to make it an ever more welcoming and pleasant establishment. The team has worked with local craftsmen and designers to bring a real personal touch to this establishment imbued with luxury and serenity.
- Beachside atmosphere at Villa l'Arche
The hotel was redecorated by bidartar boutique person Bello Horizonte during its last renovation last year. The view remains the same but the decoration of the place is warmer in a beachside decor that invites you to relax and disconnect.
bidartar key
- From the names of the rooms to the murals at Auberge Koskenia
When the old post office was transformed into a new generation hostel, nothing was left to chance. From floor to ceiling, the layout and decoration of the place conveys the history of the building and the local touch of the artists and creators who collaborated on the project.
- Decoration bidartar & wall of fame at the creperie Ty Ouessant
Erwan is our first neighbor and he is also the most Basque of the Bretons!
He is the successor of a fine line of crêpe makers where the family recipe for crêpes has been generously passed down for several generations. He is still supra bidartar too, and you can feel it when you meet him and when you walk through the door of his creperie... the proof in pictures!
Return from flea market
- At Sandrine's house Arbolateia
The Arbolateia house is a haven of peace and eclecticism where Sandrine decorates and imagines the spaces according to her finds and her inspiration of the moment.
Nothing is alike and yet everything makes sense...
