In Bidart, the Notre Dame de l'Assomption church faces east according to the ancient tradition. Dating a priori from the XNUMXth century, it is surrounded by the parish cemetery where we still discover some humble discoidal stones, serving as ornaments for old Basque tombs.
To see: the baptismal font, oriental style (offered by Queen Nathalie of Serbia); facing the pulpit, a wooden crucifix (dated between the 1750th and XNUMXth centuries), the work of a good craftsman; a statue of Saint-Jacques in pilgrim's costume, in beautiful solid oak; the gleaming altarpieces of XNUMX strongly influenced by Spanish sculpture (where the patroness of the church presides in the middle).
