The end of the XNUMXth century has been called the “Belle Epoque”, but it ended with the First World War, followed by the Spanish flu.

So the 1920s ushered in a new, carefree and unbridled way of life. This is why they were called the “Roaring Twenties”.
Women's toilets have changed dramatically: shorter, closer to the body. Their boyish-cut hair showed their desire to become equal to the men they had often replaced when they were at the front. They were even displayed with a cigarette holder in their mouth!

On the Basque Coast, casinos have multiplied to distract this new bourgeoisie; in Bidart, there was La Roseraie and games at the Pavillon Royal. Many villas have emerged facing the ocean: that of my grandparents dates from 1926, like Nadia and others from our dear Basque village.

Will the current crisis also lead to awareness and a renewal of human life; it is our dearest wish.
