Cells, a majestic underground vaulted room, arouse emotion. Today, it hosts an exhibition on the roads to Compostela in the Middle Ages. In Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, each building plunges the visitor into the past. Citadel, Walls, Gothic Church, Mansart House, Arcanzola House, remain the centuries-old witnesses of yesteryear.

Church of the Saint-Blaise Hospital

The only vestige of an old stopover for pilgrims on their way to Saint-Jacques de Compostelle, the church of the Hôpital-Saint-Blaise is a unique monument in France. Remarkably original, its essentially Romanesque architecture blends with the genius of Hispano-Moorish art, thus bearing the marks of the influences that crossed the paths of the XNUMXth century. These influences are reflected in the presence of architectural gems, real rarities on this side of the Pyrenees. The UNESCO Historical Monuments and World Heritage labels bear witness to the richness of this remarkably well-preserved site, nestled between traditional XNUMXth and XNUMXth century houses, at the entrance to the Basque Country.
