Villa Arnaga

Edmond Rostand's villa is inspired by Basque farmhouses with white facades and red timber frames. Today Musée de France, you will find an original collection of objects and works of art evoking the famous writer and his family. Around the house, Edmond Rostand has also created gardens over more than 15 ha.
Arnaga is classified as a “Historic Monument”, labeled “Remarkable Garden”, “Remarkable Trees” and “Houses of the Illustrious”.

Abbadia Castle

The Château-Observatoire, an enchanting place, erected on the steep cliffs of Hendaye in the middle of a moor, was built between 1864 and 1884 by Viollet-Le-Duc for Antoine d'Abbadie, ethnologist, geographer, man of science.

Urtubie Castle

Belonging to the same family since its construction in 1341, this fortified castle was enlarged in the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries to become today a very welcoming Historic Monument, furnished and decorated with this refinement.

Imperial chapel

Biarritz lighthouse

Erected in 1834, 73 meters above sea level and proud of its 248 steps, it overlooks Cape Hainsart, so called in the past because of the oaks that surrounded it and which have been replaced by tamarisks.
This cape marks the limit separating the sandy coast of the Landes from the rocky coast of the Basque Country.

Rhune train

It is the most beautiful panorama that the Basque Country can offer! 10 km from Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Biarritz, halfway between the typical villages of Ascain and Sare, the Rhune cogwheel train takes you in 35 minutes to the top of a mythical mountain at 905 m altitude. The prison known as the bishops

The so-called Bishops' prison is an important construction dating from the XNUMXth century. This enigmatic name recalls that Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port was an episcopal city, by the will of the Pope of Avignon, during the Great Western Schism. Cells, a majestic underground vaulted room, arouse emotion. Today, it hosts an exhibition on the roads to Compostela in the Middle Ages. In Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, each building plunges the visitor into the past. Citadel, Walls, Gothic Church, Mansart House, Arcanzola House, remain the centuries-old witnesses of yesteryear.

Church of the Saint-Blaise Hospital

The only vestige of an old stopover for pilgrims on their way to Saint-Jacques de Compostelle, the church of the Hôpital-Saint-Blaise is a unique monument in France. Remarkably original, its essentially Romanesque architecture blends with the genius of Hispano-Moorish art, thus bearing the marks of the influences that crossed the paths of the XNUMXth century.
