It is a year to be marked with a milestone for Bidart in terms of heritage.
Indeed, the inventory mission ended a few months ago and the result is rich. Also the 2021 edition of the European Heritage Days of Bidart will highlight this magnificent work carried out with the precious support of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region.

Exceptional meetings are scheduled this year, take note!

Screening of the short films "Denbora - le temps", directed by Toma Jablon

Screening on Savior Atchoarena Square from September 17 to 19

Denbora offers an artistic, poetic and sometimes dreamlike vision of the Bidartar heritage. The four short films deal with four themes: oblivion, secrecy, presence, pride. They are so many sensory mini journeys in our past and give us the desire to discover even more this history which forges the Bidart of today.

Denbora is an original creation initiated by the city of Bidart and produced by Toma Jablon.

Conference the surrealists on the Basque Coast

Friday September 24 - 19 p.m. - Toki-Toki

While on vacation in Guéthary in the summer of 1923, the young writer Pierre Drieu La Rochelle fell under the spell of the Basque Country. The following summers, Drieu invites his Dadaist friends to share their delirium.
At the beginning of the summer of 1926, Man Ray discovered the seaside resort of Bidart. The Wheelers, a couple of New York friends, invited him to shoot a film, which they are producing, in the Emak Bakia villa in Parliamentia. The magnificence of the seaside style of this villa bears witness to the architectural style of a princely resort during the Belle Epoque. In Bidart and on the Basque coast, Man Ray shoots his second surrealist film, whose title borrows the name of this villa.
In Emak Bakia, Man Ray creates a sculpture that we will not discover until much later, which he calls: “Fisherman Idol”.
It represents the original forms that surrealists love. Thanks to rare accounts and fragments of correspondence, Edouard Labrune has been able to collect the traces of these forgotten chronicles, which he recounts in his book "Blue Matins and Pink Nights".
Duration: 1h30 - Booking recommended - Toki-Toki Library - 09 51 29 81 22 or toki-toki@bidart.fr
