Surf

As early as the 60s, the young surfers of Bidart came together under the wing of the pelote basque association "Kostakoak"(those from the coast) in order to practice this new sport from the Hawaiian Islands. Very soon, the best local pionneers of the sport were, and still are, to be found in the final stages of the French Surf Championships.

With the longest stretch of coastline of all the Côte Basque (5km) shared among 6 beaches, Bidart has some of the best spots on the coast. With a surfing school on each beach during the summer, lessons are available for all who wish to learn or improve their technique.
