The Coastal Walk

To follow the Coastal Walk, go to the car park at the Erretegia beach. When you've parked, go down towards the beach. At about 50m on your left, you will find the starting point.  The first sign is slightly lower on the left hand side and indicates  taking  the steps going up the hill.

A few important remarks

  • Wear good walking shoes as you'll be walking  for 7 hours if you do the Coastal Path in its entirety. If you prefer to do it by stages, you have a choice between 7 access points : Bidart, Guethary, St Jean de Luz, Ciboure ,Urrugne and 2 at Hendaye.

  • If you follow the planned route, you will not be troubled by the tides but be careful along the cliffs which can be steep.

  • Bikes and animals are forbidden at Abbadia (the end of the Coastal Path).  Furthermore, we would advise against bikes et the start of the Coastal Path in Bidart as there are lots of steps.

  • Respect the environment and follow the indications to keep on the right way.  If in doubt,  starting from Bidart, you are heading south and so the ocean should be on your right.

  • Have a good walk!
